Germany went through, as expected. What was unexpected was how thrilling the finish was, and how well Turkey recommended themselves. Stealing a page from the Turkish playbook, defender Philip LLahm scored in the 90th minute to book Germany passage to the finals.
It was an exciting game (when the Italian transmission wasn’t fucked up). I expect more run and gun tonight.
And I think Russia may have the self-belief to take them through, though it’d be foolish to discount Spain. We’ll see.
