If music be the food of love, play on.” So says Duke Orsino at the beginning of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. He wasn’t of course, referring to the yearly holiday playlist I make. Though he could’ve been; the music in the playlist is indeed the food of love. Specifically, the gezellig holiday rum and egg nog by the fireplace, chatting into the night with family and old acquaintances who should not be forgotten.

And it also works well on Christmas morn, when freshfaced babes spring from their beds to gather around the tannenbaum and see what Saint Nick and his reindeer helpers have dropped down the chimney.

In fact, even if your Christmas is different than the Hallmark movie edition, you might still enjoy the mix of tunes I’ve lovingly cobbled together, like an North Pole elf putting the finishing touches on a wooden rocking horse.

It’s available on Spotify here and my friend Chris Mead cloned it to Apple Music, if that’s more your speed.
