two men are pla nking in a youtube thumbnail

I’m gearing up to do an Australian push-up challenge. It’s technically called “The Push-up Challenge”. This is with my friend and ex-colleague Robbert. He moved to Australia and has gone full Aussie. He and I first did a planking challenge a few years ago. It went well, especially if you use swearing as a metric of success.

Those crazy Aussies have set a ridonkulous target for the amount of push-ups you should be doing during the three weeks of the challenge. The nice round number of 3,249 or an average of 135 a day. That seems a silly amount of push-ups and is, of course, a number that is way too high.

However, that number was chosen quite intentionally; it represents the 3,249 lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2022. So, for a number of reasons, this seems like a good project to support.

However, I’ll be running a concurrent challenge, and the goal will be to work our way up to being able to do 100 push-ups on the final day, and an even thousand throughout the event.

I’ll keep you posted on how it goes. Or how it went.
